Mr. Kirby was born in a small Midwestern town in rural Minnesota. Even though the town he was born in, is home to the Hockey Hall of Fame, he had little interest in hockey or being a spectator of any sport. His standard comment is, “Sports are to be participated in, not watched.” His sport of choice is swimming. He has completed over 30 marathons, numerous triathlons, including 1 of 500 miles, several ultra marathons of 50 miles or more, marathon swims and century bike races.

Graduating from high school with honors in the top 5% of his class, he then attended the University of Minnesota obtaining a degree in psychology with a strong background in biology and business. Mr. Kirby is committed to lifelong learning.

Over the years he has been employed in many professions from construction and food service to teaching and speaking. He has helped design and evaluate management training programs and was engaged by a college to develop a student supplemental services program.

Mr. Kirby has started and owned many businesses and has been successful at more than one. He has been independently employed most of his life. Some of the successful ventures are; sales, property management, restaurant management, retail store owner, home inspection services and YMCA lifeguard training.

Mr. Kirby is presently serving as Western States Director and Inspectors' Consultant for InterNACHI (International National Association of Certified Home Inspectors). He is also a former member of InterNACHI's Ethics Committee. His main objective is to serve others by providing informative conferences, consulting and motivational speaking. He currently resides (since 1999) in Northwest Montana on a remote off-the-grid property.
